The Pub,' as its habitues affectionately call it, offers good food and good atmosphere in equally generous servings. Located in a refurbished house built in 1881, owners Jeff and Joceyln Waite have created a true gathering place in the Old English tradition, with rich, gleaming hardwoods creating a dark but warm environment in contrast to the dazzling lighter display of the Winslow Wharf marina just oustide, perched on the winding inlet of Eagle Harbor ''' a view best appreciated (though not absolutely necessary) from the generously sized outdoor deck. Oh, and there's the food ''' soups, salads and seafoods dominate the menu, though it's nowhere near the 'same old stuff' you might find elsewhere. There's a hearty ethnic influence, with Greek salads, hummus plates, edamame and other exotic plates offered along with favorites like clam chowder, crab cakes, calimari, smoked salmon and shrimp dishes. (This writer still longs for the return of the peppered snapper sandwich!) There's also a 'Cheers'-like bar, with microbrews aplenty. Space is limited, particularly in cold-weather months, and parking can sometimes prove challenging ''' but it's a challenge worth overcoming. When to go: Lunch, dinner Type of food: Sandwiches, salads, seafoods Atmosphere: VERY friendly Cost of average entr?e: $6 to $10 Visa/Mastercard: yes Handicap Accessible: yes
